bo·keh noun: the visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, especially as rendered by a particular lens.
The Lens Dirt effect was an instant success when it was released in HitFilm 2 Ultimate back in 2013. It gave users a quick and easy solution for adding realism to their VFX shots, and even gave them the option to use their own dirt maps. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be an abundance of lens dirt photographs on the internet.
Bokeh contains 75 HD photographs of real lens dirt for you to use in your HitFilm projects. You can also use them in Photoshop or almost any editing program; just set the Blending Mode to Screen. The photos are at a resolution of 5184 × 3456, which gives you plenty of room to rotate and resize if needed. Remember: you can also combine multiple images by setting the Blending Mode to Screen in their own composite shot, and use the comp as the Dirt Map.
